Telco Wiring & Repair offers Wi-Fi internet access to homes in West Pasco that are located within 1.5 miles of one of three antennas located at Columbia Basin College, TRAC, and Tri-City Prep. These antenna are operated and maintained by the Franklin County PUD.

There are antennas in Benton County as well. These antennas are located at Canyon Lakes, Thompson Hill, the Vista Substation, Badger Canyon, Dallas Road in Benton City, and the Grain Elevator on Clearwater.

This is a wireless service; therefore the performance is subjected to several variables. Variables such as signal strength, distance from antenna, weather conditions, could cause your signal reception to vary or completely disappear. Internet traffic from other wireless customers on the same antenna can also slow your Internet connection. The same is true for any Internet connection.

The speed of these connections can be as high as 1 Mbps (Megabytes per second) but more realistically 500 to 800 Kbps (Kilobytes per second) can be expected, depending on the variables listed above.

In order to receive the Wi-Fi signal, we must install an external antenna on your home and run a wire from the antenna to a room in your home. Prior to doing this we will test for signal strength and verify that we can connect to the Internet. After we do the the test we will get your OK to mount the antenna and run the wire. Every attempt will be made to hide the wire inside walls and attics, however in the some instances we will have to run the wire on the outside of the house and interior walls due to the desired location and construction methods. We will discuss the installation options with you prior to starting the installation.

Prices for Wi-Fi and Fixed Wireless vary. In Franklin County the cost is $14.95 a month. In Benton County the cost is $24.95. This is because of different equipment that is used in each county. If you chose to do a self-install, we will provide the antenna and Cat-5 wire. You will be expected to mount the antenna and run the wire from the antenna to the room you desire the connection to reside. We will then aim the antenna and terminate the Cat-5 cable, the program the antenna.

We will give you a week trial period to decide if you like the service and wish to continue. If after the week trial you do not want the service, we will remove the antenna and disconnect you from our wireless service with no charges at all. If you decide to keep the service, we will ask you to sign a one-year commitment and pay the antenna installation charge with your first months invoice.

We do not provide computer support beyond setting up your wireless connection and email on one PC. If after the install you cannot connect to the Internet, please feel free to call us. We will come to your house during regular business hours and test the connection with our laptop. There will be no charge for this service. If the PUD wireless network is down, we will call the people necessary to remedy the problem. If the network is working and it is determined that the problem lies with your PC or other customer owned devices, our regular hourly rate of $70.00 per hour may apply from that point.

We normally will not send a technician to your home after 7 P.M. during the week or after 5 P.M. on the weekend. We realize that the Internet is important to our everyday lives and that extenuating circumstances occur. We will always try to work with you to reach an acceptable resolution to any problem you might have.
